Episode 1 pictures

by Mike

We talked about a lot of old games in our first episode, and part 2 will include one horrifically shitty game (according to Mike).  We’ve got pictures of some of the games on our Facebook page (thanks Derek!), so go check them out!

Album: Episode 1

We also have some pictures to share with you here of some of the crap that came up in our first episode.  Be sure to check them all out by clicking on “read more”.

Below is Pitfall for the Atari 2600.  Our logo was inspired by this game!

Below is the game Space Invaders for the Atari 2600.  Note the ship you control looks like a penis, don’t know what the designers where thinking.

Below is the cover for Yars’ Revenge.  See how the cover makes this game look like it has new and improved graphics and the main character looks like a bug!  Atari covers can be deceiving.

Below is the original NES system, the front loading cartridge design was to make the NES system look like a front loading VHS player.  This was done to persuade consumer that this was not just another gaming system, but rather an “Entertainment System” for adults and children.

Super Mario Bros. one of the most memorable games ever, and one of the first games to associate a character, Mario, to a company, Nintendo.  The last time this was done, in my memory, would be Pac Man being associated to the Atari system, however, Atari was flooded with many horrible games that diluted their ‘image’.

Like Atari, a lot of the first NES games released had a deceptive cover, note this game actually looks “exciting.” The NES “seal” on the lower right didn’t mean anything… this game still SUCKED!

But Bump ‘n’ Jump was anything but exciting (image is actually from the arcade version…which played the same and still was a load of dung).

However, there are games on the NES that we will never forget and impacted our gaming lives, like Metriod. At least Metriod didn’t cover up their actual game with crappy cartoon drawings.  No, they showed an actual screen shot on their game cover (with minor modifications mind you).
